South West Ireland is known by golfers far and wide as one the best golf destinations globally, where you are never too far away from a coastal classic or inland gem. Waterville, Ballybunion, and Tralee are some of the most famous courses in the world, and they all happen to be in this region. It’s a golfer’s paradise with spectacular courses intrinsically woven into the natural landscape, shaped by nature and the ages more than architects and machines. It doesn’t get much better than a golf vacation in the South West of Ireland.

A week of golf in Ireland, particularly in the stunning region near Killarney, promises an unforgettable golfing experience amidst breathtaking landscapes and rich Irish culture.

  • July 20 - Arrive and transfer to Killarney

    You leave your flight at Dublin Airport, greeted by the friendly Irish hospitality. The airport is modern and bustling, and you quickly clear customs and retrieve your luggage. As you step outside, you feel the fresh Irish air, a mix of crispness and hints of the sea.

    Chuck and Hilary will greet you at the designated meeting point in the airport. The van is comfortable, and you settle into your seat, excited about the journey ahead.

    The Scenic Drive to Killarney

    As you leave Dublin, you journey into the Irish countryside, passing picturesque, quintessentially Irish landscapes. Rolling green hills dotted with sheep and cattle stretch out before you. The road winds through quaint villages and charming towns, each with its unique character.

    The journey to Killarney typically takes 3-4 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions.

    Arrival in Killarney: The Victoria Hotel

    Finally, you arrive in the charming town of Killarney, nestled amidst the stunning County Kerry landscapes. The van pulls up in front of The Victoria Hotel, your home for your stay. The hotel is a charming blend of traditional Irish hospitality and modern comfort.

  • July 21 - Ballybunion

    A round of golf at the Old Course at Ballybunion Golf Club is a bucket-list experience for golfers worldwide. Located on the southwest coast of Ireland, this legendary links course offers a challenging and breathtakingly beautiful round of golf. Here's a description of what you can expect during a round at the Old Course at Ballybunion Golf Club:

    The Front Nine:

    1st Tee: Standing on the 1st tee, you take in the dramatic view of the Atlantic Ocean to your left and the ancient dunes of the course. The wind coming off the ocean is both a challenge and an ally throughout the round.

    Challenging Holes: The front nine at Ballybunion's Old Course is an actual test of links golf. The fairways are narrow, the rough is punishing, and the bunkers are strategically placed. The par-4 3rd hole is often cited as one of the most challenging and scenic on the course.

    The Course Layout:

    The Killeen Course stretches over 7,220 yards and has a par of 72. It's known for its demanding layout, which requires precision and strategy on every hole. Water comes into play on nearly every hole, with the lakes and streams that weave through the course adding both beauty and challenge. The greens are fast and true, often guarded by bunkers that demand careful shot selection.

    Signature Holes:

    Hole 4: This long par 3 is a standout, playing across the water with the mountains as a stunning backdrop. A well-struck iron shot is needed to avoid the lake and reach the green.

    Hole 10: A picturesque par 5, where a good drive sets up the possibility of reaching the green in two. The approach shot requires precision to avoid the water hazard that guards the front of the green.
